Sad to say but this is a good example of why we Christians need to be informed and ready to give an answer to those are being pursued by false religions.
The very popular Rapper known as SNOOP DOGG has recently released a new song that ignores Church leadership and praise the Nation of Islam and the “Hebrew Israelites”
The intro goes like this:
“I would like to say to this gentlemen and all other people who are not blessed with melanin at this point in time to understand that what has happened in our history is that you have been misinformed as much as we have been misinformed.
Much of the information that is brought forth, not only from Doctor Mohammed, but other areas, other scholars, are not available to you as a sister said in your curriculum that you’ve had for 400 years when you did not allow us to read and write, it was being hidden. Whether you, sir, personally did that or not, it was a legacy that was passed onto you. And I end by saying the Holocaust is simply the greatest atrocity on film. Ours was not filmed.”
In Snoops video, while he is talking about unity of Black people, he uses video of the nation of Islam and the Hebrew Israelites but no images of any of our past Civil Rights champions or any of our church leaders.
He also seems to only highlight strong Black male masculinity, which seem to indicate a strong desire for strong Black male presence and leadership, which is understandable.
That is something that seems to be lacking in many Churches that are predominately Black, Strong Black male leadership. In most predominately Black churches, the women out number the men 50 to 1 and most of the leadership are female. This is not to say that women should not have leadership roles, they should, and they do a fantastic job. But my point is that the lack of sufficient male leadership in churches seems to contribute to turning men (of all ethnicities) off from church, that and the much-publicized corruption of ministers and abuses by ministers. It all clearly has damaged the image of the church as a source of leadership for young males.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the predominately Black churches.
And this has got to be addressed and remedied by the Church.
Make no mistake about it, Islam and the “Hebrew Israelites” are in no way the proper representation of men or for men, but if the church fails to step it up and present the Biblical male in a way that fully glorifies God and reveals what true manhood is, groups like The Nation of Islam, and the “Hebrew Israelites” will continue to snatch our young men up into their worlds.
The song does make mention of the Bible as a preferred alternative to history books, but only with the Quran and Rastas as well. Again, when the church fails, we give those souls to the many other religions out their that are competing with the Church for their attention.
Snoop Dogg seems to be still searching for truth and perhaps for God, but he clearly has not found the God of the Bible yet.
We must pray for him that God will put the kid of people around him that will be able to deal with his questions and refute all of the false views that he has, so that he can find his way to the God of the Bible.
I am not just talking the talk but I am trying to take action as well. I met a young man at our churches CWOW out door service who told me that he studies with the “Hebrew Israelites” and believed that they had the truth. I challenged him to prove to me that their teaching was truth and he agreed to have lunch with me. I asked him to call our church and leave a message for me when he was ready to start our talks and he never called. So today I called him and he agreed to have lunch with me tomorrow. And so it begins. Please pray that God will bless my efforts to reach him with the gospel.
[Shout out to my boy VOCAB MALONE who I grabbed this Snoop Dogg story from.
Vocab is a Hip-Hop generation Christian who not only loves Jesus but who has given himself over the deep study of God’s word. And he takes it to the streets where he engages the “Hebrew Israelites”.]
