I had notice a high level of liberal ideology among college professors in just about every college I have reviewed or visited, and certainly most of the professors I have talked to about key issues turned out to be liberal. (It’s amazing how uncomfortable they get when they begin to realize that you are on to the them).
I was not sure why but planned to ask around and investigate. But then I received an email from The Daily Signal titled “Liberal Professors Outnumber Conservative Faculty 5 to 1. Academics Explain Why This Matters” (see link below).
The article is by Natalie Johnson, but what got my attention was the comments by professor Matthew Woessner, an associate professor of political science and public policy at Penn State Harrisburg.
His take on the matter as a professed conservative leaves much to be desired.
I am particularly concerned with several comments he is said to have made.
“Woessner said:
This raises critical questions of whether students are getting a balanced education—not because there’s some conspiracy to block out conservative ideas, but merely because the people who are teaching are either not familiar with or don’t embrace conservative ideas.”
Woessner is not willing to state what is obvious to anyone in or close to college life. When liberals are in power, they do indeed look to hire other liberals. And since there are ways to identify conservative professors applying for work, especially in this Internet age, those liberals doing the hiring can easily come up with an excuse not to hire a conservative teacher applying for work.
I have talked with enough liberal professors to know that they are afraid of intelligent conservative teachers because such people can easily expose their dishonesty and misinformation. Woessner should be aware of this too and yet he makes this foolish comment:
“Woessner said an equal number of liberal and conservative professors isn’t necessary for higher education to work well, but at least a small minority of faculty on campus should hold different views”
Not sure of what kind of conservative Woessner is but he seems to be a “conservative” who is being very careful not to tell it like it is even though this is a serious matter.
For a conservative to make such a statement makes me wonder just how conservative he really is.
I have seen enough examples of oppositions putting up people favorable to them as representative of their adversaries, and this could well be such a situation. If not, there is something driving him to soft peddle it.
He seems to contradict himself when he states:
“Conservatives who want to become involved in higher education face challenges, …… and universities should encourage more right-leaning academics to become professors to help shrink the ideological gap.”
Earlier he said that there was no conspiracy and yet here he acknowledges that to get to teach in college they face challenges. He also said there was no need to maintain a balance of teachers on both sides, but then here says universities should try to shrink the ideological gap; something is not adding up here.
At any rate, at least it is being made clear that liberals dominate higher education in our country. And that obviously results in most students being influenced to think liberally and so now you can get another idea as to how we got to where we are today politically, sociologically, spiritually and academically.
It is why supposedly smart people can’t see when they are being coned by homosexuals to believe that it is intelligent to accept a “sexual preference” as a “class”, minority or other wise and steal rights that do not belong to them.
It is why unthinking people are made to feel like they are doing something wrong when they say no to perversion. And why people foolishly perceive a loving attempt to turn homosexuals away from sexual, psychological and cultural disaster, as hate and meanness, and accuse those who do so of being responsible for homosexual suicides. All this, while refusing to acknowledge the condition as a sickness that drives them to instability, and ignoring their own tendency to violence and hostility.
We are a sick society, and sad to say, false, foolish, ignorant and childish “Christians” have played a major role in bringing us to this point.
Now let’s see what the real “Christians” are going to do to reverse the curse.
